Hi sister and brother-in-law,
“As you know it is my birthday next week en I would like to celebrate together by going out for dinner. What do you think of …
You still have a vacation and we are on the road with my birthday as usual. We have arranged a hotel from Friday to Tuesday near Disneyland Paris. If you feel like it and have the time to spare, we would like it if, for example, you start your camper early on Saturday morning and be at Disney around ten o’clock. We can probably arrange for you to be able to park one night at the Disney parking lot for ten euros (if not it would be 40 euros). We can arrange entrance tickets for 1 day for 35 euros each.
We can then have a free cup of coffee at salon Mickey, spend a day art the parks which are open until 11 o’clock and have a party.
On Sunday we think about going to Paris with the RER. Just walking, looking around and caching. You would then be able to drive home in the evening or stay overnight.
It is an impulsive thought; it would be very nice if you are in for it and otherwise we just go out for dinner sometime later.
Greetings Mikkie and Minnie”
That’s how the whatsapp started that we sent. The reaction came very quickly and less than an hour later the two also arranged a small hotel for two nights.
Apparently, they did not mind, but because the camper is an elderly lady who must be treated with respect and therefore has to be driven calmly, the car was a more suitable mode of transport to continue drive on the highway and the French peage. Hence the booking of an affordable hotel in Torcy. That is a stone’s throw from the parks and is therefore a great alternative.
We ourselves have arranged four nights in a more expensive hotel on the ring around the parks. Since we celebrate our wedding day and my birthday there, we felt we deserved it. After all, we do not really do any gifts.
For years the male of us has been a Disney fan. That really came to fruition when he and his sister went on holiday for the first time to Florida. Walt Disney World then left an indelible impression on those two. How nice is it that he can now spend a day at Disneyland Paris with his sister?
Given the Disney hunger, we have been to the parks near Paris many times. It will not come as a surprise that we have already bought annual passes in the past. In the spring we have bought them again after a few years and our family can also benefit from it, so that it is all less expensive for them.
Sis will certainly enjoy it, because she has been to the parks a few times, even though it was a long time ago. Our brother-in-law, on the other hand, for him it becomes his baptism of fire. He is not a great fan of theme parks, so we are very curious how he experiences a day at Disney!
If you visit the parks for just one day, it will mainly involve tasting the atmosphere and go to a few attractions they seem to like most. We will follow our family in what they want to see and do that day. Fast moving cars can certainly charm him, so we will not skip the Stuntshow.
Disney, either you hate it or love it. Perhaps we are going to experience that he will become a fan and that he will love the photo moments with the Disney princesses, or that he only wants to go to the Dumbo ride. You never know in advance what Disney does to someone.
We are going to make it a fun day and with the day of Paris next it will be allright!
Meanwhile the party is already behind us for some time. We greatly enjoyed our days. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law also liked it only the first day was a very long one for them. They left home at about four o’clock in the morning and after the closing show of eleven in the evening we left the park.
We enjoyed the Stunt Show Motors Action, Ratatouille and the Mickey and the Magician show at the Walt Disney Studios park. In the Disneyland Park we did the Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Tours: the Adventures Continues, ate an ice cream near It’s a Small World and were able to dine early at Agrabah Cafe. We did a lot of walking and tried to dodge masses of people, because it was very busy. We could also cought a glimpse of the parade; the piece that came out more than 2 meters above the floor. As a final piece of this exciting birthday, we enjoyed the Illuminations evening show with the projections on the castle and the fireworks. It was a birthday to never forget and when we got to the room, the bed was full of balloons and there was an attention from the hotel. Surprise!
Sister in law has enjoyed herself a lot and it seems that our brother-in-law enjoyed it better than we dared to hope in advance. He sees opportunities to come back again, if that is not positive! …., but in the low season if the queues are a lot less and we can actually only agree. You then do have a chance that some attractions are closed for maintenance, but you can do a lot more in one day.
The day in Paris that followed was hot. It was well above 30 degrees celsius and that is still quite warm in a metropolis. We walked a bit, looked around, drank a cup of tea, ate a bite and made a cruise on the Seine along the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Notre Dame. We had a day ticket for public transport and we took advantage of that. With RER and metro to La Defense to admire the Grand Arche. With the tram and the carriage to the Eiffel Tower. From there by bus, to Hotel de Ville and crisscross on foot, with metro, tram and RER back to the hotel, where we enjoyed the evening meal nearby.
Paris is always worth while. We have been there many times and yet the city surprises you again and again. We will definitely come back again, because we did not even have time for the Champ d’Elysée, Mont Martre, Quartier Latin etc. We have been able to convert just one geocache into a smiley!
“Dear sister-in-law and brother-in-law, we have enjoyed you being there and are delighted that you jumped to the occasion so enthusiastically. Thanks for the fantastic days and an unforgettable birthday !!!
Love, Jo-Ke”
